Pan Seared Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 16 asparagus with about the same diameter, cut lengthwise into thirds after cutting off the hard end
  • 8 bacon slices, cut into half, lengthwise
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • black pepper

Directions

  1. Wrap 3 asparagus pieces together with bacon, tightly, making sure the end of the bacon strip ends at the center of one side of the bound asparagus.
  2. Sprinkle black pepper on all the sides of bacon.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat, placing  wrapped asparagus on the skillet with the side with the end of bacon strip facing down.
  4. When the bacon turns nicely brown, rotate the asparagus to sear the other side of bacon. Repeat the process until the second side turns brown.
  5. When all sides are brown, reduce the heat to low and cover. Cook for 1 to 3 minutes or until asparagus turns mostly soft, but removing from heat before it shrivels.
  6. Drizzle with soy sauce and sear for 20 seconds, turning asparagus.
