Canned strawberry margarita mix

Ingredients

  • 200g strawberries, washed and hulled
  • 36 g granulated sugar
  • 22.5 ml (1 1/2 tbsp) lime juice

Tools needed in this recipe

  • 8 oz jars
  • bar mixer
  • pressure canner

Directions

  1. Make strawberry puree:
    Cover strawberries with sugar in a glass or enameled pot, and leave it in a refrigerator for several hours to over night.
  2. Take the pot out of the refrigerator and let it sit until it warms up to room temperature.
  3. Heat the pot and boil for 1 minute.
  4. Blend with a bar mixer to puree the strawberries.

  5. Can the strawberry puree:
    Add lime juice to jars and strawberry puree, leaving 1/2-inch head space.
  6. Process for 8 minutes in a pressure canner.

Strawberry margarita

Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 canned strawberry margarita mix
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/4 cup tequila
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) Cointreau or orange triple sec
  • salt to rim the glass

Directions

  1. Place margarita glasses in freezer.
  2. Salt the rim of the margarita glasses. 
  3. Blend all the ingredients. Serve immediately.

Note

Replace some ice with water of same weight if it turns out too slushy.
