Uses for the Drained Liquid from Yogurt
- Substitute for milk or buttermilk: It makes pancakes fluffier and with lower calories!
- Meat marinade base: Lactic acid bacteria help meat to become tender. It also takes bad odors from the meat, but does not leaving its own flavor.
- Smoothies: It will add yogurt flavor.
- Yogurt drinks: Mix two parts of milk to one part of the drained liquid from yogurt, and sugar or honey.
- White rice: Adds more nutrients without adding flavor. Replace 1/2 of the original volume of water with equivalent volume of the liquid when cooking rice.
- Facial exfoliating masks: Soak a facial mask paper with the liquid and leave it on your face for 10 minutes. Limit the use up to 2 to 3 times a week.
How to Save the Drained Liquid from Making Yogurt
- It lasts as long as the original yogurt should last in refrigerator.
- It also can be frozen. Freeze the liquid in an ice cube tray and transfer to a zip lock bag when it is frozen. It can save the day when you wish to have a small quantity of milk!
