Memo

Most recipes for home made sweetened condensed milk seemed to be a bit random, so I decided to make one myself that tastes almost exactly like commercially available canned sweetened condensed milk.

So it took simple math...
Assuming a source on Internet is correct, which says a 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk has about 220 g sugar, and milk is heated until about 60% of the water evaporates...

To make 14 oz or about 400 g of sweetened condensed milk:
Sugar : 220 g
Milk weight after it lost 60% of the water : 180 g

Milk weight is usually 1.05 times its volume.

Calling volume of milk "A" ml...

A x 1.05 - A x 0.6 = 180
A x (1.05-0.6) = 180
A x 0.45 = 180
A = 180 / 0.45
A = 400

Therefore the volume of milk must be 400 ml. Hope it is correct... will see how it tastes!
